Who is Kookie for?
Kookie is created for (and by) pre-teen girls from around 7-ish to 12-ish, but anyone can read it.
Can boys read Kookie?
Of course, they can (and do)! Our magazine is girl-led, but we keep the content non-gendered. Reading about girls in challenging, creative and leading roles is good for everyone. This sums it up.
How do I get a copy?
You can buy issues here.
Where do you ship Kookie to?
Anywhere in the world.
Where’s the advertising?
There isn’t any and never will be. Just 56 pages of fantastic content and no ads at all.
Why a print magazine?
Because, like us, tweens still love to read magazines (hooray!).
Despite the ever-increasing use of technology, younger kids still prefer to flick through the colourful pages of a print magazine than read from the internet. That’s because tweens engage with magazines in a very tactile way – writing and drawing on the pages, colouring in the pictures, filling in the quizzes and entering the competitions.
Offering a sense of ownership, escapism and camaraderie, magazines are a ‘slow media’ that can be read anywhere, at any time, without a charger in sight.
(Plus nothing beats getting your very own magazine through the post!)
Why you don’t have free gifts on the cover?
We’ve made a conscious decision not to add to the tide of plastic in the world. We have free posters and pull-outs with every issue, but we’re proudly plastic-free.
What were those awards for?
Our magazine was named Launch of the Year at the British Society of Magazine Editors’ Awards 2018 and the Consumer Publication of the Year (Small Publisher) category at the Mumbrella Publish Awards 2019. We’re thrilled that Kookie has received this recognition.
